Cornwood 10K challenge and Fun Run.

31st July, 2015

The Cornwood 10K challenge and Fun Run was a great success with two new course records and high turnout for both events.

Source are happy to have sponsored the Cornwood 10k Challenge and 4k Fun Run which took place on Saturday 25th July. The 10k event started at 6:30pm and followed the various lanes surrounding Cornwood and Lutton, with the 4k Fun Run starting just five minutes after. Both events started and finished in the Cornwood village square.

There were two new course records set at the event. Jim Cole beat his own record of 34 minutes 41 seconds, setting a new men's 10k course record of 34 mins 32 secs, and the women's record of 41 minutes 40 seconds was beaten by Naomi Flanagan by an impressive 1m:54s, setting the women's 10k course record at 39 minutes 46 seconds.

There was also an appearance from Great Britain junior international Will Battershill, who finished second. Will had recently returned from the IAAF World Youth Championships in Colombia, where he had been competing in the 2000m steeplechase.

The team of 4 from Source enjoyed taking part in the 4km Fun Run. They split up early on in the race, but eventually finished in pairs, Kayleigh and Sean crossed the line in 24 minutes 12 seconds, and Michelle and Zoe, in 29 minutes 44 seconds. After completing the event, and posing for a 'worn out' photo they enjoyed a much needed drink in Cornwood Inn, conveniently across the road from the finish line!
